The Member representing Yakurr 1 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Obol Cyril Omini, on Monday hosted the State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Peter Odey, at his council ward, Ijom-Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, shortly after the 2026 Leboku International Festival at the Yakurr Peace Stadium, Ugep.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Omini reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation and continued service to his constituents. He called on the people to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Bassey Otu and his Deputy, stressing that collective support remains vital to consolidating the administration’s achievements across the state.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, representatives of the youths, women and political stakeholders as well as traditional rulers expressed strong confidence in Hon. Omini’s representation, commending what they described as his impressive performance in office in his first term.
The speakers pledged their continued support for the lawmaker and expressed their resolve to support candidates based on competence, capacity and performance in the 2027 elections.
Responding on behalf of Governor Otu, Deputy Governor Odey appreciated Hon. Omini for hosting the Governor and the delegation, while commending him for his commitment to the welfare and development of his constituents.

He urged the lawmaker and other community leaders to continue promoting peace and stability across the communities, stressing that meaningful development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of conflict, instability and crisis.
According to him, peaceful communities provide the foundation for government to deliver infrastructure, attract investment and create opportunities that directly benefit the people.

The Deputy Governor further reaffirmed Governor Otu’s commitment to the administration’s green economy agenda, urging the people of Yakurr to actively participate in the initiative and explore the opportunities it offers for sustainable livelihoods, employment and economic growth.
He called for greater collaboration between government, community leaders and citizens in driving the green economy agenda and advancing the overall development of Yakurr and Cross River State.

The carnival-like reception ceremony was also attended by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh; Council Chairmen of Yakurr, Obudu, Bekwarra and Abi; the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr, HRM Obol Ofem Ubana; and members of the State House of Assembly.
Others in attendance included the APC House of Representatives candidate for Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. John Gaul; the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Dodoye Arikpo; his counterpart in Art, Culture and Tourism, Chief Obi Ayuk; the State Chairman of the APC, Rt. Hon. Chris Etta; and the Head of Personal Staff to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Chris Ojikpong, alongside various youth groups, women and party faithful.
