The Chairman of Obudu Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Peter Akonfe Undiandeye, KSM, has praised the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, following his recognition as Tourism and Hospitality Champion by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria.
The award, which was received on the governor’s behalf by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, at the NAF Conference Hall in Abuja, celebrates Governor Otu’s efforts in revitalizing the tourism and hospitality sector in the state, a key driver of economic growth and cultural promotion. industry widely regarded as vital to economic growth and cultural advancement.
In a statement issued to the media, Undiandeye described the honour as richly deserved, emphasizing that the governor’s policies and strategic investments are already repositioning Cross River as a prime tourism destination in Nigeria.
He applauded the administration’s commitment to upgrading key tourism infrastructure such as Obudu Ranch Resort, Agbokim Waterfalls, and the Marina Resort, alongside the rebranding and expansion of the iconic Carnival Calabar, which have become central to the administration’s strategy for revitalizing the state’s tourism and hospitality sector.
According to the council chairman, the recognition is a clear endorsement of Governor Otu’s vision and dedication to restoring Cross River’s status as a leader in tourism and hospitality.

Undiandeye further expressed optimism that the award will inspire sustained efforts, particularly in advancing the development of the Obudu Ranch Resort and unlocking other eco-tourism opportunities across the state.
